Richard Haydon, CFA
Managing Member, Chief Investment Officer
Richard Haydon, CFA, is the Chief Investment Officer of Tipp Hill Capital Management LLC. From February 2006 until his founding of Tipp Hill in July 2009, Mr. Haydon was a Senior Portfolio Manager and Managing Director in Neuberger Berman's Straus Group. From 2001 to January 2006, Mr. Haydon was a Partner and Senior Portfolio Manager at Omega Advisors, Inc. ("Omega"), an Investment Adviser founded by Leon Cooperman that focuses on equity and debt investing. At Omega, Mr. Haydon independently made investment decisions for a portion of Omega's portfolio and served on the Investment Policy Committee. In 1988, Mr. Haydon founded Strategic Restructuring Partnership ("SRP"), a private investment fund focused on investment in a broad array of debt and equity securities. Until 2000, Mr. Haydon served as both SRP's Chief Investment officer and its Chief Administrative Officer. From 1983 to 1988, Mr. Haydon was President of the broker-dealer operations and head of the leveraged buyout effort of Gabelli & Company, Inc. ("Gabelli & Co."), a firm established by Mario Gabelli. From 1973 to 1983, Mr. Haydon worked at Goldman, Sachs & Co, spending seven of those years in the Investment Research department and the remainder in the Mergers and Acquisitions department focusing on leveraged recapitalizations and other leveraged transactions. Mr. Haydon received a B.A. in Economics, cum laude, from Syracuse University in 1970 and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst certification. He is a member of the Syracuse University Board of Trustees and its Investment Endowment Committee and formerly served as Chairman of Student Affairs. Mr. Haydon is a founder and is actively involved in the Entrepreneurial Boot Camp for Disabled Veterans and is a member of the Board of Directors of the York Street Charity, a non-profit located in Jersey City, NJ.
Brian V. DiRubbio
Brian DiRubbio joined Tipp Hill in July 2009 as a Senior Analyst. From September 2008 to June 2009, Mr. DiRubbio was an independent consultant providing capital structure analysis primarily to public companies. Previously, Mr. DiRubbio had spent eleven years at U.S. Trust Company ("U.S. Trust"). From 2007 to 2008, Mr. DiRubbio was a Senior Analyst and Portfolio Manager on the Columbia Dividend Income Fund. From 2003 to 2007, he was a Senior Vice President and the Co-Portfolio Manager of U.S. Trust's Equity Income Strategy. From 2001 to 2003, he served as a Portfolio Manager for U.S. Trust advising high-net worth clients. From 1997 to 2000, Mr. DiRubbio served in various roles assisting senior managers working with high net worth clients. During his time at U.S. Trust, Mr. DiRubbio developed a proprietary capital structure investment process that combines the disciplines of debt and equity analysis. Prior to joining US Trust, Mr. DiRubbio worked for the Bank of New York from 1995 to 1997. Mr. DiRubbio received a dual major B.S. in Banking & Money and Business Management, cum laude, from Adelphi University in 1995 and a dual major M.B.A. in Finance and Accounting from Fordham University in 2003.
Chief Operating Officer
Jim Paladino joined Tipp Hill in April 2014 as the Chief Operating Officer and the Chief Compliance Officer. Prior to joining Tipp Hill, Mr. Paladino was a founding member of Eagle Ridge Investments in Westport, CT, where he oversaw trading, operations and compliance. From 1999 to 2008, Mr. Paladino was the senior equity trader at US Trust where he was responsible for equity and derivative trading as well as compliance issues. Before US Trust, he worked in other trading capacities from risk-arbitrage to proprietary trading. Mr. Paladino has an MBA in Finance from Youngstown State University and a B.S. in Economics from St. Vincent College in Latrobe, PA. On the weekends, he is a volunteer for a number of sports programs in his hometown of Fairfield, CT.
